Abstract

The British Association science festival in London featured several presentations which highlighted the development in the field of chemical engineering. New chemical engineering topics covered the expansion of process engineering into areas such as biosciences and microtechnology. Tissue engineering concepts included the processing techniques for the synthesis and production of replacement organs. Advances in turbulence models used in engineering design and the controversy shrouding genetically-modified crops were also discussed.
