Abstract

Cardiac rehabilitation is both a therapeutic and preventive treatment, contributing to reduce mortality, not only in patients with some coronary ailment but also among asymptomatic ones with cardiovascular risk factors. Telemetry systems aid cardiologists, physiotherapists and nursing personnel through the cardiac rehabilitation of a patient, where a remote, effective and safe supervision of the relevant physiological parameters is mandatory while the patient is exercising and carrying on physical activity. MOVISHOW is the software associated to the telemetry system MOVICORDE, that allows simultaneous monitoring of the ECG signals of up to eight patients, warning the medical personnel when any arrhythmia is detected. It also makes possible the automatic control of the training pro gram assigned to each patient, printing out reports that ease the evaluation of the cardiovascular response when the patient is subjected to the stress imposed by the exercises. It has been designed and implemented for execution under Windows© using Object Oriented Programming. © 2009 Springer-Verlag.
