Abstract

The increasing complexity of modern networks prompts a need for dynamic resource discovery. Mobile clients have the additional need to rediscover the location of local area network resources each time they move to a different LAN. We present a protocol and proposal for the operation of dynamic resource discovery. Our design is simple, extensible, and light weight. We implemented and tested our design with stationary servers, and mobile clients running mobile IP. © J.C. Baltzer AG, Science Publishers.
