Abstract

This chapter discusses the possible pedagogical implications of the present study. It starts by looking at the implications for PE in CLIL, especially in terms of its methodology and practice, and offers teachers ideas and suggestions for its successful implementation. These are based on the experience gathered through this study as well as teaching and supervising student teachers in this context. Moreover, this chapter discusses how language and sports could be combined for integrative purposes that go beyond classroom settings. It suggests that sports are a cultural artifact that generates space for people of different races, religions, and languages to create individual identities. Next, I expand the point of view to the greater field of CLIL in new contexts. As CLIL diversifies in Europe and beyond, it slowly spreads into other new and nontraditional contexts that may benefit from insights about how learners in these setting may use foreign languages in peer interactions. Finally, this chapter provides an outlook into the future of CLIL in diverse contexts and suggests research possibilities in this field.
