Delhi, the capital city of India is called the ‘Crime Capital’ of the country. The city tops the slot for almost all violent crimes, particularly highlighting dismal state of women. A systematic attempt has been made to analyse the spatiotemporal patterns of crime in Delhi focusing on heterogeneity and concentration of multiple deprivations. Attempt is also made at portraying the policing pattern over time and the important factors which affect this change. The purpose of the study is to see how the police and governance machinery react to the policing/security and civic order related needs of a megapolis existing in a democratic environment in order to see what more needs to be done at the policy level.
