Abstract

Composites of aluminum metal and iron calcium borate glasses were prepared using powder metallurgy techniques. With all glass volume fractions, 0-90%, the aluminum formed the continuous matrix making the electrical conductivity of the composites metallic. The optimum mechanical properties were 250 VHN, 45 kg/mm**2 compressive strength and 36 kg/mm**2 tensile strength.
