Abstract

In current scenario, carbon nanotubes have witnessed immense progress as the multifunctional nanocandidate for efficient drug delivery application. CNTs offers the numerous unique and outstanding features like high surface area, tiny nanoneedle tubular structure and shape, high loading efficiency, and inner hollow space for scaffolds for loading and attachment of bioactive(s). Functionalization of CNTs make them more nonimmunogenic, biodegradable, biocompatible, and less toxic and considered as promising nanocarriers in the development of novel therapeutics. This chapter summarizes the brief about the carbon nanotubes, and their possible application in drug delivery perspectives with current research.
