Abstract

In the research of power system protective relayings, a lot of transient simulations are needed under various system models, operating situations and fault conditions. Because of the huge amount of calculation, the simulation often consumes plenty of time if it is operated by personal computer (PC). Here, a Linux cluster based parallel simulation system is developed. This parallel simulation software is on the basis of MPI parallel programming model, and in its cluster hardware system the network resource and the existing hardware resources for PC are used, so a higher calculation speed is realized by a lower cost. The results of calculation examples show that the calculation of the developed simulation system is greatly speeded up and the calculation time is reduced.
