Abstract

Greece joined the European Economic Community (EEC) in 1981 but its relationship with the European Union (EU) has been somewhat tortuous.1 At times the relationship was contested, while in other periods it evolved more smoothly (Kazakos, 2001; Pagoulatos, 2003; Featherstone and Papadimitriou, 2008; Verney, 2011).
