Abstract

We investigate the impact of First-In-First-Out (FIFO) flow aggregation on delay performance of a Differentiated Services (DiffServ) network in the context of Expedited Forwarding (EF). Specifically, the focus is on investigating the impact of FIFO aggregation on edge-to-edge delay performance. Motivated by the IST - Moby Dick project, the investigation is mainly conducted through simulation. On the other hand, analytical results are also presented. We examine the conformance of simulation results with analytical results based on various findings. These findings verify analysis from different aspects. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2003.
