Abstract

In this section we address an important type of nonspectrum calculations. Hadron structure is explored by matrix elements of suitable operators between hadronic states or the vacuum. The simplest such properties are the coefficients of the hadron propagators, related to matrix elements between the hadronic state and the vacuum, the so-called decay constants. They describe the weak decay properties of the hadron. We discuss in some detail the lattice calculation of decay constants as a representative of many technically similar problems. © 2010 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
