Abstract

The ultrafiltration-adsorption membrane of nano δ-MnO2-blended cellulose acetate was synthesized by physical blending technique via the phase inversion method. The MnO2 nanoparticles were loaded into the cellulose acetate polymer matrix for enhancing adsorption. Particularly, dimethyl sulfoxide, a green solvent was used for membrane fabrication. The prepared membranes were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and element mapping, atomic force microscopy (AFM). The contact angle and water flux were measured for filtration performance of obtained membranes.
