Abstract

The Public Affairs Officer (PAO) at a US mission abroad is the senior public diplomacy official at that mission. He or she is responsible for the overall management of the public diplomacy program in the host country, including determining the issues and target audience to focus on, developing the programs, proposing the programs and budget to Washington, and then managing their implementation.
