The purpose of this study was to determine the participation of the Southern Forester Tapanuli Nature Lovers Group in the conservation of the Sumatran Orangutan (Pongo Abelli) and the obstacles faced by the Southern Forester Tapanuli Nature Lovers Group in participating in conserving the Sumatran Orangutan (Pongo Abelli) in the Dolok Sibual-buali Nature Reserve, Regency. South Tapanuli. The method used in this research is descriptive research method using a qualitative approach. Data collection is done by conducting interviews with respondents directly. From the results of the research conducted by the author, the participation of the Southern Forester Tapanuli Nature Lovers Group in the Conservation of the Sumatran Orangutan (Pongo Abelli) is not optimal yet, because besides the limited funding for orangutan conservation activities, the role of the Government, the private sector, stakeholders and the community still does not care about forest sustainability. , With the aim of economic interests. This requires government, private, and stakeholder intervention to invite local institutions and local communities to manage conservation areas and biodiversity in order to create sustainable forests.
