Abstract

The imaging technique based on indocyanine green fluorescence has been widely used for more than 40 years. Recently a near-infrared laser light system has been integrated to the da Vinci HD Si robotic system allowing fluorescence-guided surgery. There are many fields of application in general surgery, ranging from intraoperative cholangiography, the study of bowel stump perfusion, lymph node mapping, sentinel lymph node assessment, and colorectal and gastric tattooing.
