Abstract

Pollen influx data from the Flandrian peat deposits of the Somerset Levels, south‐western England, are compared with other pollen influx data for peat and lake deposits. Peat deposits are found to have a much smaller annual recruitment of pollen than lake sediments. This difference is attributed to the absence of pollen contributed by inwash or stream inflow into a peat, particularly a raised bog peat, deposit. Copyright © 1979, Wiley Blackwell.
