Abstract

The continuous transformation of the Chinese navy into an integrated and network-centric capability requires a cooperative and distributed weapon resource management system. As one of the steps into naval information grid our objective is to develop generalized principles for grid computing that can be applied to this specific domain. To address this problem, we adopt the OGSA (Open Grid Service Architecture) technology to rebuild the legacy weapon manager. This paper proposes a generic co-ordination WRM (Weapon Resource Management) based on the integration of grid capabilities. The architecture can effectively shape a stovepipe and self-contained system into a service community equipped with open interfaces thus enabling the command to make fast, high quality weapon allocation decisions across widely distributed platforms. © Springer-Verlag 2004.
