Abstract

Superior labral anterior-posterior (SLAP) lesions are commonly diagnosed in athletes. Athletes face a unique challenge after SLAP repair to return to play at their pre-injury functional level. The surgeon must rely on a combination of history, physical exam, proper imaging, and, when necessary, arthroscopic findings when treating athletes with SLAP pathology. Meticulous technique, evolving tools, and proper rehabilitation following repair may allow athletes to return to sports with satisfactory results. We present our preferred methods to achieve the goal of successful reintegration into sports after arthroscopic repair of SLAP tears.
