Abstract

ICT have changed learning and teaching in different educational contexts, as a result of bachelor's degree enrollment increase and Internet users. To determine the frequency of use and function that students of a Mexican public university give to ICTs in educational contexts, 309 volunteer students participated, selected not probabilistically and by quotas. A tipe Likert scale consisting (46 items) was designed and applied. The students used ICT in a more receptive way than to produce information and in informal contexts, with a recreational and communicative use. ICT should be promoted in higher education, with action plans that adapt the informal skills of university students, to technological competencies appropriate to formal education.
