Abstract

(from the chapter) in [this] study of social support as experienced by mothers in postdivorce families [the authors] combined ideas from the literatures on attachment and social support / [the authors expect] that, in postdivorce families, the mother's parents, other relatives, and close friends would play a more prominent support role / examine both positive and stressful aspects of the mother's relationships with specific network members, including the child's father / also collected data on the mother's locus of control beliefs and planfulness / mental health (depression) and reported stressful life events served as outcome variables / 50 divorced mothers with preschool children [participated in the study] (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
