Abstract

An evaluation procedure for multi-step thermochemical water decomposition processes is described. It provides for the determination of changes in thermodynamic properties inside the process and can be used to study the effect of operating temperatures, approach to equilibrium in the chemical reactions, and thermal regeneration on the process thermal efficiency. Work of separation and recycle requirements are obtained in the course of the analysis. The procedure is demonstrated by application to a number of processes.
