Abstract

Background: Uncontrolled hypertension will be a risk factor for life-threatening diseases such as stroke and cardiovascular disease. Paying attention to the negative impacts of hypertension, appropriate intervention is needed. Overcoming hypertension can be done in various ways, namely pharmacological therapy and non-pharmacological therapy. The type of non-pharmacological therapy is Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS).Purpose: To determine the effect of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) on changes in hemodynamic conditions in elderly people with hypertension.Method: The approach used in this research is quantitative. This type of research is quasi-experimental using a pre-post test design in one group or One Group pretest-posttest Design without Control. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Results: Shows that of the 30 respondents, 22 experienced a decrease in blood pressure, 1 respondent had an increase in blood pressure levels and 7 respondents had the same blood pressure. Data analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showed that the p value = 0.000 ≤ ɑ = 0.05, so that statistically H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected, which means that there is an effect of giving TENS therapy on non-invasive hemodynamic conditions in elderly people with hypertension. Conclusion: There is an effect of giving TENS therapy on non-invasive hemodynamic conditions in elderly people with hypertension.
