Abstract

RoboCup was created in 1996 by a groupof Japanese, American, and European artifi-cial intelligence and robotics researchers witha formidable, visionary long-term challenge:By 2050 a team of robot soccer players willbeat the human World Cup champion team.In this article, we focus on RoboCup robotsoccer, and present its five current leagues,which address complementary scientific chal-lenges through different robot and physicalsetups.
