Abstract

The study assesses factors that explain inequalities in childhood stunting in a culturally similar population, the Bengali community of India and Bangladesh on two sides of the Indo-Bangladesh border. Unimproved sanitation practice was one of the major contributors to the economic inequality in childhood stunting in the Indian Bengali community which can be addressed by promoting community-led programmes as are effectively functional in Bangladesh.
