Abstract

The retrieval of patient information from large computerised patient records may be lightened by various techniques, depending on the information needs of the user. This paper describes a study of information needs at the hemato-oncology departments of three hospitals from different countries. A questionnaire has been taken off from different actors in inpatient care. A model of inpatient care has been built consisting of management and operational activities (tasks). Information needs have been analysed with respect to needed data, useful searching criteria and presentation techniques. Different information needs were found between users, but not between tasks. There was great uniformity between the three countries.
