Looking over the papers I have written on Inuit emotion concepts over the years, in preparation for this workshop, I realized that I had moved to some extent in the way I looked at emotion. In this paper I will thread my various experiences with the study of emotions on a chronological string and talk about what I have learned from studying emotions in a variety of ways. To illustrate my points, I will focus primarily on problems of understanding Utkuhikhalingmiut Inuit 'attachment' emotions.
