The indigenous knowledge system of India, such as yoga, has a lot to offer to human well-being. The Indian worldview holds that to attain freedom from distress and seek happiness, several traditions of yoga have been proposed and practiced. The present chapter discusses the theory of panchakoshas that provides a comprehensive understanding of subjective well-being. In addition, the empirical underpinnings of yoga as an intervention to enhance subjective well-being are examined. The Indian methods of enhancing happiness along with establishing a positive physical and mental health are illustrated.
