The weight/length relationship of the silver croaker, Plagioscion squamosissimus (Heckel, 1840), was studied by means of samples obtained through experimental fisheries carried out monthly in the period from 2001 to 2002, in collection points inside the reservoir of Tucuruí power plant, Pará State. Catching of the specimens was performed using a gill net and, at laboratory, sex identification and biometric measurements were made. Comparison of the regression equations of weight on length for males and females by means of a Student’s t test showed no statistical difference between sexes (t = 0.0244; P > 0.05) which implies that weight changes equally as a function of length for both sexes. The regression allometry was of the positive type, in other words, the weight is increasing at a larger relative rate than total length, an outcome supported by the values b = 3.01, for males, and b = 3.04, for females.
