Abstract

ABSTRACT The incidence of pneumonia in Indonesia in 2018 was 2.0% (Herlina, 2020). Pneumonia is included in the top ten diseases at the Mulyojati Public Health Center, Metro City, which accounts for 53.95% male and 46.05% female results. Efforts that can be made to maintain smooth breathing in patients with pneumonia, especially with patients who have ineffective airway clearance disorders, are chest physiotherapy (ISLAMIYATI, 2020; NUR KHOERUNNISA, 2020). To maintain the smoothness of the respiratory system, things can be done such as suction, elevating the head position and providing a Fowler or semi-Fowler position depending on the location of the secretions (Riski, 2018; Sari, 2020). Mulyojati Public Health Center, Metro City. Methods: This study was conducted 10-15 x/minute in 2 days in the morning and evening using a case study analysis of nursing journals on the application of chest physiotherapy using clapping and vibration techniques. The subjects of this chest physiotherapy were 3 patients who were treated with nursing diagnoses of ineffective airway clearance disorders. Results: The value of respiratory improvement before and after chest physiotherapy intervention with airway clearance obtained an average value difference of 4x/minute indicating that chest physiotherapy had the effect of removing sputum. Conclusion: chest physiotherapy with techniques is and vibration effective in helping patients to expel sputum and clearing the airways so as to maximize ventilation so that patients can breathe well and smoothly and the patient's oxygen saturation can increase. Keywords: Pneumonia, Chest Physiotherapy, Airway Clearance.
