Reviews the book, Clinical handbook of obsessive-compulsive disorder and related problems by Jonathan S. Abramowitz, Dean McKay and Steven Taylor (see record 2007-12126-000). This volume consists of 21 chapters written by 40 authors--preponderantly psychologists with a high proportion of graduate students. The material is presented in 2 parts. The first part, 11 chapters, deals with the varied descriptive characteristics of OCD in an effort to systematize the vast heterogeneity of OCD symptoms. The second part, 10 chapters, concerns "problems related to" OCD. It covers the range of sometimes associated psychopathologies including such behaviors as eating disorders, trichotillomania, autistic syndromes, and Tourette syndrome. This book should be useful as a summary and review of currently published knowledge about OCD. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2012 APA, all rights reserved)
