The article reports on Deutscher Bibliothekartag, the annual conference of Germany's national librarians' association, held in Erfurt Germany. Presentations and panel discussions relating to computer software development, Internet searching, and other areas of library automation and electronic data processing are considered. A research paper on the use of so-called social media, Web 2.0 concepts such as blogs and online social networks, in library public relations is described. A redesign of the academic library at the University of Erfurt, site of the conference, is discussed.
