Abstract

The demand for tourist destinations with accessible and quality infrastructure has been growing steadily. The main objective of this article is to evaluate the accessibility of hotels in the city of Quito, for which a descriptive study was conducted in 106 hotels in this city, selected through a stratified sampling by hotel category. To this this purpose, indicators were defined for each hotel unit, based on Ecuadorian accessibility standards for hotels, and partial indicators were constructed based on the degree of compliance with these standards, using five measurement categories, which were aggregated to obtain an overall indicator. The results obtained indicate that the level of accessibility is very low in all the facilities in the sample evaluated, with the highest category hotels having the best levels of compliance with this requirement.
