This paper presents a proposal to incorporate the concept of medical device interoperability in the healthcare technology management as an evaluation tool of clinical engineering, contributing to the risk management of the technological process in health. The methodology consists of researching the interrelation between each level of interoperability with each domain of the technological process in health, identifying the common attributes that may be evaluated in a structural model. The proposed model was used to classify the medical device interoperability stage of health care facility and also alarms management evaluation of interoperability solutions in ICU simulation environment. It was verified that interoperability may further enhance alarm management, contributing to propitiate increasing patient safety, through appropriate connectivity, clearly defined processes as well as trained human resources.
