Abstract

We report the first time-resolved soft x-ray measurements of solvated transitionmetal complexes. L-edge spectroscopy directly probes dynamic changes in ligand-field splitting of 3d orbitals associated with the spin transition, and mediated by changes in ligand-bonding.
