Abstract

E. chaffeensis. E. chaffeensis was isolated in 1991 and formally named after it caused the first human infection in 1986.3, 4 E. chaffeensis exhibits tropism for monocytes/macrophages and causes human monocytotropic ehrlichiosis (HME).
