Nephrotic syndrome is a complex of symptoms including proteinuria (>3.5 g/24 h), edema, hypoalbuminemia, and hypercholesterinemia. It is characterized by a damage of the capillary walls of the glomeruli, which alters their capacity to fi lter the substances transported in the blood.
