This chapter compares three approaches to the study of hallucinations-descriptive psychopathology, psychological psychopathology, and phenomenological psychopathology. Only the last of these, the author concludes, uncovers the essential nature of hallucinations and properly reveals the difference between hallucinations in the various diagnostic entities.
