Abstract

Spectroscopic properties of gossypol and its stability in different solvents and pH are studied by means of UV-visible absorption and emission spectroscopy. The results are correlated and discussed on the basis of semiempirical INDO/S CI calculations. The influence of oxygen and excitation wavelength on the photodecomposition of gossypol in solution is also investigated. © 1990, Walter de Gruyter. All rights reserved.
