Abstract

This chapter provides a description of the structure of potato plants, including both external morphology and internal anatomy. Experiments on the control of development, especially of the stolon and tuber, are reviewed. Recent developments in tissue culture are briefly considered and the potentialities of genetic transformation, particularly the possibilities of modifying levels of endogenous hormones, are outlined.
