The paper deals with the new phenomenon related to the complexity of TV series production after 2000, recently theorized by many authors. The common denominator for most of them is the blurring of boundaries between film and TV. How can we explain the complexity of recent TV production? Is it related to blurring the boundaries between television and film, art and entertainment? The primary objective of this paper is to demonstrate that we are dealing with a completely new, hybrid form, which incorporates not only film aesthetics but also the visual arts experience and contemporary theory.
