Abstract

This paper is a summary of the geostatistical techniques which have been applied to contouring. The various forms of the estimation procedure known as kriging are introduced in the order of their historical development together with corresponding assumptions and hypotheses. One of the most recent developments, known as dual kriging, is also introduced, and its advantages and applications are discussed. Methods of contouring with unreliable data using kriging are also discussed.
