Abstract

An important method in cardiovascular research is the extraction and detection of cytosolic and membrane proteins and proteins located in a sub-cellular organelle. The methods used for this approach are cell lysis, differential centrifugation, gel electrophoresis and western blot. Depending on the protein, which is to be detected, these protocols have to be adapted. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2005.
