Abstract

Different from common gastric cancer, hepatoid adenocarcinoma of the stomach (HAS) is highly malignant, invasive, and prone to liver metastasis, lymphatic metastasis, and poor prognosis. The diagnosis, clinicopathologic features, and prognosis of HAS are still controversial. In order to help clinicians understand this rare type of gastric cancer better, this paper systematically reviews the diagnosis, clinicopathological features, and prognosis of HAS from the origin of alpha-fetoprotein, so as to provide constructive suggestions for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of this special gastric cancer.
