Abstract

The relation between psychosomatic medicine and consultation-liaison psychiatry is discussed. A short critical review is presented on a number of conceptual and factual developments in the field of psychosomatic medicine. With this in mind, some critical comments are made on some aspects of consultation-liaison psychiatry or general hospital psychiatry. The need for more research is stressed especially on effectiveness of consultation- and liaison-activities.
