Abstract

An end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patient is placed on CRRT because of hypotension with no improvement after many days in the ICU. Explore criteria for continuing and stopping CRRT in the setting of ESRD. Learn compassionate goals of care conversation tools to engage patient and family. Remember to be aware of and manage team member distress at “stopping” an intervention to allow a natural death.
