We provide an overview of the available tools and software environments that can be used for building, maintaining, and evolving ontologies. Since the recent interest in ontologies has resulted in a proliferation of such tools, we are interested more in the ways such tools facilitate the engineering of ontologies and in the ontology engineering task they support. © Springer Science+Business Media B.V. 2010.
