Abstract

The gamut of benign and malignant lesions that can occur in the mediastinum or thymus is wide in spectrum and beyond the scope of a chapter dealing with this rich pathology. This chapter will focus on primary mediastinal lesions with special interest in those that are more commonly seen. Although metastatic tumors to the mediastinum, in some circumstances, may mimic primary mediastinal tumors, they will be addressed in the context of the primary mediastinal lesions. © 2008 Springer Milan.
