Abstract

The present study describes the results of the project "Regional Alliance for the Strengthening of the Agroindustrial Sector in Risaralda, Colombia - Prospective Component.” The objective of this project is to promote rural development and to strengthen higher education in Risaralda. The method Delphi is applied with two rounds and national and international stakeholders are invited. The results highlight 11 topics and technologies as priorities and four new topics are proposed: 1) Fusarium race 4, 2) development of new varieties by different methods, 3) new techniques for genetic improvement such as editing genomes, and 4) varieties of banana cumin, cotton or guava. This information will contribute to strengthening research in higher education programs in the agro-industrial sector of the region through the development of projects related to science, technology, and innovation in the production chain of green plantain.
