Abstract

We start this chapter with a discussion on the difference between macro- and micro-levels of analysis and the importance of making the distinction. Our goal is to provide practitioners with information about how this distinction could be applicable to different kinds of research on crime prevention. We end the chapter by discussing the programs that have elements related to both the micro- and macro-level. Policies and programs can target a variety of entities, such as individuals, neighborhoods, schools, states, or the entire nation. We hope that by clarifying the macro and micro-level distinction, practitioners and treatment providers will better understand how to propose, implement, and evaluate policies and programs.
