Abstract

Individuals with unilateral amputations have a disadvantage in sensorial perception, which decreases the movements of the committed member. Considering these alterations, the use of equipment is necessary to measure appropriately these disturbances. The objective of this study was to evaluate the postural passive mobility balance of amputees with transtibials unilateral prostheses, through the analysis of stabilometrical parameters. The speed of corporal oscillation of GA obtained was (9 ± 3) mm/s and of GC was (6 ± 1) mm/s. However, the present study can conclude that transtibial amputees that use prostheses have a larger oscillation speed, suggesting that amputates use different strategies to reestablish their balance. © 2013 Springer.
